What Does the Cherry Gumbo Strain Name Really Mean?

The names of the strains in the THCA section have become more abstract, but Cherry Gumbo is one of the more descriptive, with the flavor really being berry-candy forward, not marketers. It is described as an easy to enjoy, hybrid-ish, relaxing strain, that is not as good for a wake and bake.

If you want to know this one specifically: there is more than one gumbo-lineage strain under similar names (gumbo-runtz is another distinct cultivar) and it can be easy to compare the wrong gumbo. It’s a search problem when it comes to the naming of it; Blue Cherry Gumbo is its own phenotype and it’s not a product problem.

It is listed on DopeTHC as a Ugly Buds QP, which is the same genetic material and effect as their premium flower, but with less importance on the shape of the buds. The sweet, candy-like aromatics are fairly consistent with a standard cure, whereas not all fruit-oriented varieties have such a distinctive aroma that lasts long into the cure.

Even if a quarter pound of one strain is too big, it may be worth looking at DopeTHC’s larger Cheap Ounces selection instead — it’s a smaller investment, and the price differential (currently $75 to just under $200 based on strain) allows for a chance to sample a fruit-forward variety like this at ounce volume before you make a bigger commitment.

If you’ve looked up this strain and found different results from different sites, it’s more due to the naming convention in the market than to a lack of supply. It’s not unusual in itself, but is often misrepresented from store to store, making it difficult to compare.
